How to Prepare?

Model UN can seem intimidating or confusing at first, but it is all worth it once you get on the platform and debate. The key to a successful conference experience is preparation. A delegate can never be too prepared. In order to be confident in your statements, you need to be sure of the message that you are delivering. A prepared delegate can always prove himself correct without hesitation.

ISMMUN will provide you with the background guides which will be your first research material. Furthermore, you can always seek help from the DAIS or the secretariat members in case of any queries.

Rules of Procedure

Being thorough with the Rules of Procedure is the first step towards being a successful delegate. If you are aware of the Rules of Procedure, it will give you a head start and ensure that your experience as a delegate goes smoothly.

We suggest that you go through the Rules of Procedure before you start working on your position papers. The Rules of Procedure for conventional committees and HCC have been given below.

Sample Draft Resolution

Creating a Draft Resolution is the end goal of any MUN Conference. A Draft Resolution contains the solutions put forward by the delegates of the various countries in a respective bloc.

In the end, one of the draft resolutions will be passed by the committee. Given below is a sample position paper illustrating the ideal format of such a document.

Sample Position Papers

A Position Paper is a document that every delegate must create before the conference begins. A Position Paper helps inform the DAIS about the position of your country with regard to the topics at hand. It must contain an introduction, detail the stance of the delegate’s country, steps that the country has taken to resolve the issues, what the United Nations has done with regard to these issues and finally any steps you, as a delegate, would like to put forward.

Given below is a sample position paper illustrating the ideal format of such a document.
